Mianserin hydrochloride (CAS-RN 21535-47-7) is an atypical antidepressant (tetracyclic antidepressant (TeCA))used for the treatment of major depressive disorder (higher doses) or insomnia (lower doses). Mianserin hydrochloride is thought to work by interfering with certain brain chemicals (called neurotransmitters) which may be involved in causing the symptoms of depression. It can be especially helpful to patients who are also having difficulty sleeping.
